Golf gloves are generally made in three different ways from Cabretta leather, synthetic leather or a mixture of both, Cabretta leather comes from a special bread of sheep that grows long hair rather than wool, this strong durable leather skin can be trimmed down to provide a soft feel, whilst maintaining a tight fit on the hand that will keep its shape and provide a good grip, all the aspects to which the golfer is looking for.
The downside for these gloves is that because they are thin golfers may have to replace them more often, by using a synthetic leather or combining the two makes them cheaper to produce and keeps costs down, however, using such materials allows the glove to stretch more easily, quickly lose their shape and thereby reduces the grip on the club, this is why all serious golfers will always use an all leather Cabretta leather glove, and so at Mercia Golf we are committed to supplying only 100% premium Cabretta Leather golf gloves.
All leather is graded according to thickness and during production the leather is passed under a series of cutting blades which reduces the thickness of the skin and by doing so by a specified number of times the selected grade is achieved, this thinning process can produce triple AAA grade leather and it is this same process which produces those lovely Kidd leather gloves, those super soft feel gloves worn on special occasions.
And so for the start of the 2020 golfing season we at Mercia Golf are pleased to announce that we have found a new company willing to make our gloves using only the finest premium quality leather that matches those exact same triple AAA standards and although they will be slightly dearer than the gloves we have sold in the past they will rival the same quality and feel as those gloves produced by Callaway, Mizuno and Footjoy but naturally of course at far lower prices and thereby helping us to keep our products as representing excellent value for money!
